Nightpost has two distinct ways to keep a letter. You choose whether it stays on one device or syncs to your wallet account.
Browser letters
Without signing in, your letters and route receipts are saved in this browser's local storage. They are not sent to the Nightpost server or put on a blockchain. Clearing browser data can erase them. Download a text receipt if you want a copy.
Wallet account
Signing a login message proves you control the wallet address; it is not a transaction and costs no gas. The server stores your address, encrypted letter text, route, date, and a session cookie valid for up to 30 days. Signing in with the same wallet on another device shows the same account letters.
What encryption means
Letters are encrypted in server storage, but the site operator controls the server key and can decrypt them. This is not end-to-end encryption. Do not include passwords, seed phrases, private keys, or other secrets in a letter.
Import & deletion
Browser letters are uploaded only after you choose “Import browser letters” and confirm. Importing does not delete the browser copies. You can delete individual account letters or all account data from the “My trail” panel. A deleted wallet can sign in again as an empty account.
No letter is physically delivered, automatically minted as an NFT, or promised financial value. Service availability and storage are not guaranteed; keep your own copy of anything important.
